A dazed and confused woman caught nodding asleep at a Slurpee machine inside a Maryland 7-Eleven is facing charges after being busted with alleged heroin, authorities announced on Thursday, July 7.

Members of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office responded to the 7-Eleven location on West Chesapeake Beach Road in Dunkirk on Saturday, July 2, for a welfare check of a woman who was falling asleep inside the store with a young child, officials said.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Marlboro resident Jessica Marie Vaughan, 35, who “appeared confused and disoriented,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Vaughan then exited the store and proceeded to ask the responding deputy where her vehicle was, officials said. She then began rummaging through her bag, at which point the deputy spotted a prescription pill bottle not prescribed to her.

Further investigation of Vaughan’s purse led to the recovery of multiple capsules containing heroin, heroin residue, and three cut straws containing additional residue.

Vaughan was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with two counts of controlled dangerous substances: possession of paraphernalia, and two counts of controlled dangerous substances: possession of not marijuana.
